DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) is a naturally occurring nonapeptide originally isolated from the brain in 1974, composed of nine amino acids. It was initially identified for its role in promoting delta-wave (deep) sleep, but subsequent research has revealed broader neuromodulatory effects, including stress regulation, endocrine modulation, and potential analgesic properties. Despite decades of investigation, its precise mechanisms remain incompletely understood.
